WE ARE CIDER HOUSE DESIGN
WE CREATE BEAUTIFUL DESIGNS
WE LOVE WHAT WE DO!
We are a boutique Creative Agency located in Western Massachusetts. However, thanks to the web, we can be anywhere you are. But if you happen to be in our neck of the woods, stop in. We'll pour you a cup of cider.
With a passion for design and a love for making your company’s first impression out-shine the rest, Cider House Design is quickly becoming New England’s premier destination for web design, branding and marketing. But we’re not just a company. We’re a team of experts that have come together with one goal in mind: bringing your service or product to light, making your company and your brand something to crow about.
We don’t just do this with fancy SEO techniques and killer design and copy (although we certainly use these with all our clients). We make you a star by presenting you to the world in a professional, no nonsense way that will get you noticed. And isn’t being noticed the first step in getting you the business that you want and deserve?
We work with solopreneurs to Fortune 500 companies. If you’re looking for a simple solution or one that’s more complex including membership and e-commerce, we can give you exactly what you need.
If you can dream it, think it, or imagine it, we can build it and make it come alive. Or, if you prefer, we can do all of the imagining for you. However you choose, we can take you to that level of success you’ve been waiting for.
Creativity is one of the cornerstones of our success. We really don’t like being in a box, so we’re always thinking outside of one. We bring innovative design elements that make your company stand out.
There is a reason behind every design or marketing choice we make. Your website needs to tell a story that brings meaning to your business. Being on purpose brings success.
Nowadays just about everyone has a website, but we want you to look like no other and stand out from the rest. This is our promise to you: a unique and unparallelled presence on the web.
Creativity is contagious. Pass it on
Our diverse backgrounds in Advertising, Marketing, Visual Design, and Film Production help us approach each project a bit differently than most of our "competitors". That's how we stand out.
Lennie has 25 years experience working with some of the biggest brands in the world. He is a member of the Director’s Guild of America. As an Assistant Director Lennie has worked on over 30 feature films (like Pretty Woman, The Doors and Training Day), 200 music videos for artists like Sting, Elton John, Def Leppard, Sheryl Crowe, Mariah Carey and more, 300 commercials for brands like Budweiser, Verizon, Apple, Microsoft and Cisco.
His company FreeMarket Media Group has created and launched nearly 200 websites since 2008. FMMG has created video content, implemented marketing campaigns, and managed social media for professional athletes, professional speakers, large and small businesses, entrepreneurs, doctors and more.
Now relocating to the Pioneer Valley, Lennie is excited to bring branding and design experience to this beautiful place he now calls “Home”.
Growing up in Western Massachusetts in the small town of Easthampton, Elizabeth’s early life was all about education. With a Harvard educated attorney as a father and a PHD Biologist for a mother, Elizabeth began her schooling on the Smith College campus where her mother was a lecturer of biological sciences. Then it was off to the prestigious Williston Academy where she studied, among other things, advanced Mathematics and Latin.
After a stint at Colby College in Maine, Elizabeth left school to try her hand at modeling in the big city. After a few years of photo shoots and fashion shows, Elizabeth was back in Maine selling Real Estate.
Next she worked her way to Florida where she discovered her love for acting and worked in theater productions, commercials, and television shows like Miami Vice.
After 9 years in Florida, Elizabeth was again on the move. Ending up in New Jersey she co-founded an international training company that brought Africans to the US for training that they then brought back to their native countries. Elizabeth traveled to Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya on numerous occasions and personally negotiated working terms and trainee recruitment with those governments.
Jumping forward to 2009, Elizabeth found herself driving across country from Massachusetts to California with a car full of her possessions and her two big dogs, Pebbles and Monty, in pursuit of a new life with Cider House founder Lennie Appelquist.
It wasn’t long before Elizabeth took over all client management, the financials, and the daily operations of Cider House Design. As the VP and Chief Operating Officer, Elizabeth brings not only her creative and managerial skills, but an uncanny knack for connecting with our clients on a level, that we are comfortable in saying, is unmatched in the industry.
Now coming FULL CIRCLE, Elizabeth is back in the place she has always called home.
Now she is the Director of Online Marketing at Cider House, specializing in creating sales flows, marketing plans and making sure that your site performs like it should. You can take that to the bank.
Kathryn’s career path is best described as a spider web. She earned a BS in Biology from the University of Nebraska Omaha before moving to Massachusetts in 2005 to pursue graduate studies. In 2010 she earned a Master of Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and was hired by the Massachusetts Cooperative Research Program to do transportation research program coordination for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
After 4 years at UMASS, Kathryn accepted a development position at the Academy of Music in Northampton where she worked to increase the donor base of an incredible and historic Pioneer Valley mainstay.
Now Kathryn joins the Cider House team as the Director of Content Marketing, bringing a killer writing style to help bring our clients’ stories to life.
It doesn’t take long after meeting David to know he bleeds Kansas Jayhawks blue. Having grown up in a middle-class working family outside of St. Louis, he was the first in his family to graduate from a university and take an active role as a prominent member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Upon Graduation, David landed his first job out of college as an Art Director on the West Coast. It was a start of a career that would take him around the world, working on some of the most prestigious brands in advertising, like Toyota, .
“I never thought of what I do as work. Certainly not like when I worked at the local steel mill in high school. That was brutal. And to this day, I have never had to wear a tie to a meeting…yet.” (David Meffert, 2008)
David is quick to note that advertising takes a close second to his two college-age sons and wife Pia.

Our services are delivered by a collaborative team with years of experience that is passionate about developing businesses and creating success.
With the perfect balance of unique design and digital technology, we create a destination that will impress new clients, old clients, and help you to build relationships that make you a success. Leave the online creativity and technology know-how to us. Design and development that creates an impact. That’s what we do.
Nowadays online sales are surging. We have the experience to help create the perfect e-commerce solution just for you. Using the best shopping cart platforms around, we will create a beautifully designed and seamlessly flowing shopping experience for all of your customers so you don’t miss out on any potential sales.
We pride ourselves on our customer service. We guide you every step of the way with a clear, time-tested process that puts you at ease and keeps you informed before, during, and after the process. When your project is complete, we don’t abandon you. We will always be your biggest fan. We’ll never stop cheering you on.
While we were mulling over ideas (yes, that pun IS intentional) for the perfect name of our company, we wanted to choose something that suited us as well as the beautiful area in which we live. First of all, cider itself just says “New England”. Secondly, a Cider House can be a magical place of creation. Thirdly, the last name of one of our principals just happens to be Appelquist, and, if that isn’t enough, we are a hop, skip and a jump from the famous Park Hill Apple Orchard! Doesn’t get much more perfect than that, now does it?
I consider the team to be a group of trusted advisors and the key to my ability to reach the people who need to know about my services.
Outside-the-box thinking generates a whole new discussion that really gets to the crux of new cutting-edge marketing. Their enormous curiosity and understanding of the many evolving mediums and their “can do it-ness” result in REAL & measurable results.
You might find someone out there that is more skilled in one specific area at a very high cost, but the Cider House team really understands how it all works together from server set up to SEO integration to check- out details, and the proof is in the long term results. Worth every penny we spent.
My experience of working with Cider House is that the team is made up of such creative thinkers, in addition to understanding fully every aspect of the service they provide.
Lennie, Elizabeth and their team have done two websites for my company. I am writing to give them the highest recommendation possible. I couldn’t be happier with my website and the service that I received.
Cider House Design is amazing at what they do and their work shows how they can make anything happen!
We'd really love to hear from you so why not drop us an email and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
